Boron-10 isotope is an efficient thermal neutron absorber. Therefore, it is indispensable in the safety and control system in nuclear power plant. Special grade (SQ) boric acid is used in nuclear industry, which can increase the boron-10 ratio.

It is used to produce various boric acid salts, such as sodium borohydride, ammonium hydrogen borate, cadmium borotungstate, potassium borohydride, etc.
